The German states of Brandenburg and Berlin have opted for cost-effective, environmentally-friendly and safe waste disposal via their company MEAB. With the construction of the mechanical biological treatment system (MBT), almost 400,000 tons of waste can be processed annually - a capacity that was previously divided up between 2,000 small waste dumps in the region.

Astron and Building Partner HELIT Umwelttechnik GmbH erected the waste processing plant, which consists of several parts and has a building ground surface of almost 13,000 m². The delivery and sorting hall is followed by the rotting and intensive rotting hall. The storage hall for the post rotting phase is the last stage of the waste disposal. Astron delivered the galvanized primary structure for the mechanical biological waste treatment facility. The double skin roof has an upper shell made of aluzinc, the walls have a light ivory colour, downpipes and frame are reseda green.
