Hangar - the new flagship of Domodedovo airport
Domodedovo airport in Moscow is one of the largest passenger airports in Russia. This is the starting point of both national and international flights for over 81 airlines. To remain strong and competitive for the future, in particular in the areas of freight and private air traffic, the customer, East Line, decided to build a hangar. Astron and Russian Builder Partner MVK-Stroy LLC were entrusted with the construction of the hangar. The simple but very elegant concept had convinced the customer.
The new hangar has an area of nearly 2,000 m². It has a length of 24 metres and a width of 54 metres. The interior has been designed without any disturbing intermediate columns and this facilitates the parking of the aircraft. Almost the entire broadside can be opened so that the aircraft can easily enter. For a pleasant and natural atmosphere, windows were incorporated into the roof and in the outer panels.
This building demonstrates the flexibility of the Astron building system. Not only storage buildings and production halls, but also unconventional projects like hangars are possible.
