Time-Lapse Video: Sports Hall
"After 70 years, finally no more bus rides“, Marion Polydore, Head Teacher of the Dr. Richter High School, is happy to state. Up until now, due to the school's missing sports facilities, some pupils had to be taken to the neighbouring communities for physical education.
In cooperation with the local sports club SG Kelkheim, and with financial support from the town and district, the long-desired sports hall has finally been realized. The 1,000 m² building uses an AZM1 frame in combination with an LMR600 roof and lightweight concrete walls. It houses a 40 x 25 m gym with sprung hardwood floor, under-floor heating and dividing curtain, as well as four changing rooms, two of which are equipped with showers. A solar heating system has been installed to supply hot water and the ventilation is an energy recovery system that works via heat exchange.
The primary framing was assembled within two weeks. The interior construction and roof erection took place simultaneously, so the sports hall could open its doors after just seven months.
Astron Builder Friedrich Hallenbau Mainz installed a camera on site, which recorded the construction of the building. The time-lapse video can be watched here:
