Boeing Manufacturing Plant
Boeing and VSMPO-AVISMA announced the expansion of Ural Boeing Manufacturing. The partners plan to open a new facility in 2018, which will be based in the Titanium Valley special economic zone in the Sverdlovsk region. The facility will focus on the machining of titanium forgings for Boeing Commercial Airplanes programs including the new 737 MAX models, 787 family and 777X, with production on that program scheduled to begin in 2017.
The new building in the Special Economic Zone “Titanium valley” was constructed by Astron technology in the Sverdlovsk region. According to the CEO of the economic zone, Artemiy Kyzlasov, the project is an anchor for the specialization of the whole zone.
It is noteworthy that the building is a “Classic Astron” – a large production area with integrated office part. Among the striking features are 12 cranes with 5 tons each. Another feature is the specific temperature requirement in the production zone that has to be supported: 4 separate premises were designed for the entry of the transport. They are separated by two gates: an external and internal one, which means that external air is not able to change the temperature. Almost like on a space station. No wonder it’s an aerospace company.
According to Andrey Travkin, the manager of the project, the question of quality had top priority for “Titanium Valley”. They evaluated it by visiting other Astron projects in the region. Our guaranteed price was also a very positive argument for them.
The construction of the first significant project in SEZ “Titanium Valley” is now completed.
