Warehouse for BP Logistics in Baku
A building with advanced automated systems
BP has been in Azerbaijan since 1992. They are also at work just off the coast, in the Caspian Sea, exploring and developing offshore oil and gas resources. In order to extend its activities in this area, BP Logistics has recently opened a new, state-of-the-art warehouse. Astron was responsible for the design and supply of the 6.000 m² logistics base, associated offices and facilities intended to accommodate all of BP’s logistics storage needs.
The new BP Logistics warehouse, 150x40m and 12m high, has been constructed to the latest international standards in thermal insulation, lighting, and modern, efficient cargo doors.
The storage area includes 6 vertical automated lift system units for the storage and material handling that will store up to 25.000 different small items at a controlled temperature and humidity.
The new BP Logistics warehouse is only the start of the larger Supply Base development that in the future will include a large pipe yard area, pipe inspection facility, chemical storage and an office building.
''I would like to thank all of those involved in the project, which is one of the largest of this kind in BP and Azerbaijan, for bringing it into operation safely, within such a short period of time and within budget. It has been a significant piece of work delivered by a joint team effort of Logistics and the Onshore Modifications team,'' says Eva Wasilewska, Logistics Manager.
