REQUIREMENT
Logistics centre for high volumes of goods, reliable processes and sustainable use
Goodyear and RFL Automotive und Speditions GmbH needed a large-scale logistics centre that could efficiently process increasing volumes of goods and ensure smooth operational processes. The requirement was for a flexible industrial hall with clearly structured storage and handling areas, short loading routes and an organisation that could reliably handle high throughput volumes. At the same time, the building had to be future-proof and allow for further developments or increases in capacity without any problems.
Another focus was on sustainable building technology and energy-efficient solutions, in particular through an optimised building envelope, a predefined energy concept and robust construction elements for long-term operation. The goal: an efficient and economical logistics centre that reliably meets the requirements of an international group.
RESULT
45,000 m² logistics centre with clear processes and high future security
Astron realised a 45,000 m² logistics centre for RFL/Goodyear that efficiently combines storage, handling and administration. The hall, with a usable height of over 11 metres, is clearly structured and enables fast goods movements along a defined logistics grid. 35 lorry loading ramps support the continuous flow of goods and reduce downtimes during handling.
The robust steel construction and modular design offer a high degree of flexibility for future capacity adjustments. The LMR600 standing seam roof with insulation is prepared for photovoltaics and forms the basis for a sustainable energy concept. Precast concrete elements in the plinth area and sandwich panels with high insulation performance ensure efficiency, durability and low operating costs.
The logistics centre provides Goodyear with a resilient and efficient platform for tyre and goods logistics - with clear processes, high cost-effectiveness and a long service life.
MORE ABOUT INNOVATIVE LOGISTICS CENTRES
Logistics centres benefit from clear processes, large spans and energy-efficient building technology. The Goodyear project shows how efficient handling and storage areas can be created using systematised steel construction.
