REQUIREMENT
High-bay warehouse for precise goods management and future expansions
Corab needed a high-bay warehouse that combined modern warehouse technology, high efficiency and flexible expansion options. The aim was to create a logistics centre that could accommodate goods up to 12 metres high and at the same time provide the conditions for fast, reliable and error-free work. A key requirement was the fully automatic monitoring of goods movements in order to precisely control positioning and minimise throughput times.
The building also had to be able to grow in a modular fashion without affecting ongoing processes. Free spans, efficient floor plans and a robust steel construction were necessary to easily realise future extensions and additional technical areas. High energy efficiency and a permanently sealed roof solution were also required in order to control operating costs and ensure long-term security of use.
RESULT
8,000 m² high-bay warehouse with automated processes and maximum flexibility
Astron realised an 8,000 m² high-bay warehouse for Corab, which was built in two construction phases and thus offered maximum flexibility in capacity planning right from the start. The self-supporting steel construction provides free space for a 12-metre-high racking system that organises large quantities of goods in a small space. Modern software solutions control the positioning of goods fully automatically and ensure fast, precise and error-free processes.
The subsequently added second building section and two canopies demonstrate the modular expandability of the system. With the LMR600 standing seam roof, a durable, energy-efficient and absolutely watertight roof solution was realised - ideal for a technology-intensive high-bay warehouse. The building, therefore, offers optimum conditions for fast-growing logistics processes and fully fulfils Corab's technical requirements.
MORE ABOUT HIGH-BAY AND LOGISTICS WAREHOUSES
High-bay warehouses benefit from self-supporting structures, high storage density and automated goods flows. The Corab project shows how modern logistics processes can be efficiently realised with flexible steel construction systems.
