The public swimming pool in Cologno al Serio (Italy) was to combine functionality, energy efficiency and design at the highest level. Particular challenges were the permanently high humidity, the protection of the steel structure against corrosion and compliance with strict building regulations for public buildings. The client also wanted an open, bright space concept without columns in the pool area - combined with modern, inviting architecture and sustainable construction.

Together with construction partner Teorema Studio srl, Astron realised an indoor swimming pool with an unsupported span of 28 m and an area of 3,000 m². The steel structure was specifically protected against moisture to ensure long-term durability and minimise maintenance. At the same time, a harmonious overall architectural appearance was created with clear lines and high energy efficiency. Short construction times, precise production and modular system elements ensured maximum cost-effectiveness. The project received the "Building of the Month" award and is an example of intelligent steel solutions for modern swimming pool construction.
