REQUIREMENT
State-of-the-art production hall for precision and flexible sorting processes
The medium-sized company Sortco (formerly Akro-Plastik) specialises in the optical sorting of plastic granulate and is already realising its third construction project in a short space of time together with Astron. For its high-tech site in Niederzissen near Bonn, the company needed a new production hall for plastics processing that efficiently combines several parallel sorting lines, laboratories and storage areas. The requirement was for a production hall that would ensure high precision, flexible work processes and future expandability.
The static and functional specifications were particularly demanding: The hall had to provide sufficient space for machinery, raw material storage and sorting technology, as well as a supporting structure that could reliably bear heavy loads. In addition, a modern architectural appearance was required that reflected the company's focus on technology and quality. Equally important: sustainable construction, low operating costs and long-term future security.
RESULT
Light industry & assembly hall with heavy-duty floor slabs
Astron realised an innovative light industry and assembly hall with a total area of 2,100 m² for Sortco. Part of the hall was extended to three storeys and has high-load storey ceilings for live loads of up to 2,000 kg/m² - ideal for storing raw materials on several levels. A centrally positioned crane connects the various areas and enables smooth material flows between production and storage.
The hall was equipped with high-quality system elements: The LPR1000 roof system with 120 mm insulation ensures energy efficiency, while 100 mm thick, concealed bolted sandwich panels guarantee a durable building envelope. An integrated office area enables short distances and close integration of administration and production.
The project demonstrates the flexibility of Astron system halls: individual load-bearing capacities, multi-storey utilisation concepts and sustainable solutions can be precisely combined. A modern production hall was created for Sortco that optimises processes, saves energy and creates the basis for further growth.
BUILDING A PRODUCTION HALL WITH ASTRON
If you want to build a production hall for plastics processing, you need a solution that enables precise processes, high load-bearing capacities and flexible workflows. Modern production halls are not only required to accommodate machines and sorting technology, but also ensure efficient material flows, energy optimisation and short distances between production, storage and administration. Astron develops production halls, light industrial halls and assembly halls that are precisely tailored to individual requirements - from high-load storey ceilings and integrated crane systems to energy-efficient roof and wall systems.
Our steel halls have a modular design and offer a high degree of flexibility: extensions, modifications or additional levels can be realised at any time. At the same time, high-quality insulation and construction elements reduce operating costs over the entire life cycle. For plastics processing companies, this means maximum process reliability, future viability and an economical building concept.
Astron supports you from planning to realisation - efficiently, transparently and with clear structures. The result is a production hall that optimises your processes and at the same time offers long-term benefits as a sustainable investment.
