REQUIREMENT
Pharmaceutical hall with GMP requirements and fast provision
Thermo Fisher needed a 5,500 m² pharmaceutical production hall that had to fulfil the highest hygienic and technical requirements, be GMP-compliant and be ready for operation in the shortest possible time. The need arose during the COVID pandemic, as the new hall was required for vaccine production. The aim was to create a building that would reliably support cleanroom technology, climate control, laboratory workstations and sensitive production processes.
The challenge was the tight time frame: The hall had to be planned, produced and assembled within a few weeks. At the same time, precise climate control, controlled air quality, flexible process zones and durable construction elements were required. The solution also had to be designed in such a way that it could be adapted or extended for further production lines or laboratory use at a later date.
RESULT
Pharmaceutical production hall with modular design in just 3 weeks
Astron developed a customised pharmaceutical production hall that went into production just three weeks after the start of the project. The 5,500 m² building is based on modular steel construction elements and utilises the energy-efficient LMR600 roof, which supports stable temperature and air conditions - essential for pharmaceutical production processes.
The hall enables the integration of clean room technology, precise climate control and laboratory areas. The supporting structure allows flexible modifications and creates space for later extensions or alternative utilisation scenarios. Energy-efficient wall elements and high-quality insulation reduce operating costs and ensure a hygienic, controlled working environment.
The result is a production building suitable for pharmaceuticals and laboratories that was realised very quickly and remains usable in the long term.
BUILDING A PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTION HALL - GMP, CLIMATE CONTROL, HYGIENE
A pharmaceutical production hall must fulfil the highest requirements in terms of hygiene, climate control and reliability. Astron plans and realises pharmaceutical halls that are GMP-compliant, enable stable indoor air conditions and react flexibly to new manufacturing processes. Energy-efficient roof and wall systems, modular supporting structures and clear process zones ensure that sensitive applications such as laboratory manufacturing, diagnostics or pharmaceutical production can be carried out reliably.
Prefabricated components, digital planning and short assembly times create an economical, safe and sustainable solution. Companies benefit from high operational reliability, clear processes and a hall that enables both rapid commissioning and long-term adaptability.
