REQUIREMENT
Temporary museum building with high visitor frequency
The "Fairytale Worlds" museum was to be a temporary building for HafenCity Hamburg combining culture, education and leisure. The aim was to create an interactive exhibition concept that attracts over 300,000 visitors a year and blends harmoniously into the urban development. The requirements included efficient utilisation of the approximately 3,000 m² of space, clear visitor flows and architecture that attracts attention without permanently interfering with the surroundings.
At the same time, the building had to be designed to be flexible, functional and sustainable. As a temporary structure, it had to enable short construction times, be realised in a resource-saving manner and be adaptable or demountable if requirements changed. The focus was on technical integration, modern exhibition technology and a high level of visitor comfort.
RESULT
Lightweight construction for an urban exhibition experience
Astron realised a modern museum building in HafenCity Hamburg. The steel and lightweight construction enabled the project to be realised flexibly, efficiently and quickly.
The 3,000 m² building is designed for visitor comfort and interactive experiences: State-of-the-art technology, multimedia installations and interactive stations invite young and old to immerse themselves in the fairytale world of the Brothers Grimm. The temporary construction method allows optimal adaptation to future utilisation requirements and supports sustainability by reducing material costs and construction time.
The museum building is part of HafenCity's urban development concept, which combines living, working and leisure. With its architecture, functionality and integration into the urban environment, the “Fairytale Worlds” museum building will be a highlight of HafenCity - a sustainable, efficient and flexible cultural project that will inspire visitors and increase the attractiveness of the city.
TEMPORARY MUSEUM CONSTRUCTION - FLEXIBLE SOLUTIONS FOR URBAN CULTURAL PROJECTS
Realising a temporary museum building means combining cultural content with flexible architecture and efficient construction methods. Astron develops temporary museum buildings that enable short construction times, minimal interference with the site and a high degree of adaptability. Steel and lightweight constructions create the basis for variable floor plans, modern exhibition technology and convenient visitor guidance.
Compared to permanent museum buildings, flexibility and resource efficiency take centre stage here. Temporary museum buildings can be adapted to changing content, dismantled or repurposed elsewhere. This results in urban cultural projects that can be realised economically, are designed sustainably and enrich cities with attractive, temporary experience spaces.
