Scalable data center with maximum operational continuity
A hyperscale data center was to be built in Italy for Stack Infrastructures that would meet the highest requirements in terms of reliability, protection of the IT infrastructure and long-term scalability. The project was designed for several construction phases and had to enable uninterrupted operation even during expansions.
A building structure that could reliably support extreme loads, high energy densities and complex technical systems was key. At the same time, the data center had to be designed in such a way that maintenance, servicing and adjustments could be carried out during ongoing operations.
RESULT
34,000 m² hyperscale data center with patented rooftop solution
Astron realised a hyperscale data center with a total area of 34,000 m², spread over several construction phases. Following two existing buildings, a further 7,000 m² building complements the campus and expands capacity in a structured and plannable manner.
A patented three-layer roof system based on the LMR600 reliably protects the sensitive IT infrastructure - even under extreme weather conditions. The system allows maintenance or partial replacement of individual components without interrupting ongoing operations, thus increasing long-term operational reliability.
The design is complemented by modern solutions for climate control, fire protection and security monitoring. The result is a powerful hyperscale data centre with high availability, sustainable performance and clear expansion logic.
