REQUIREMENT

High-security data center in accordance with certified security standards

For the Datacube in Switzerland, a data center was to be built that met the highest requirements in terms of physical security, operational reliability and energy efficiency. As the basis for business-critical IT systems, the facility had to guarantee permanently high availability and at the same time fulfil all relevant security and compliance requirements. Certified standards such as ISO 27001 and the TIER III design formed the binding framework for planning and implementation.

In addition to protecting sensitive data, the focus was on redundant supply structures for power, cooling and network connections. The data center had to be designed in such a way that maintenance work, extensions or partial conversions could be carried out without interrupting ongoing operations. At the same time, energy-efficient operation was required to ensure low operating costs and sustainable utilisation in the long term.

RESULT

Certified data center with efficient building structure

Astron realised a highly secure data center with 2,500 m² of space on three levels. The building structure offers optimal conditions for servers, data storage and cloud applications and is consistently designed for availability and protection. A 55 m high water tank, a dedicated fibre optic network and modern monitoring and security systems provide additional security for operations.

With an energy consumption of just 10 kW per m², the Datacube sets standards in terms of energy efficiency. The concrete and steel construction, combined with sandwich panels and a structured steel façade, combines technical precision with clear, functional architecture. The result is a data center that reliably combines security, efficiency and sustainability.

BUILDING A HIGH-SECURITY DATA CENTER

If you want to build a high-security data center in Switzerland or elsewhere in Europe, you need experience, certified processes and precise planning. Astron develops data centers with a focus on security, energy efficiency and scalability - from structural planning to turnkey implementation. The Datacube project shows how certified standards, cost-effective operation and future-proof building concepts can be successfully combined in modern data center construction.
