Quality is Our Mission
When we speak about quality, most of us first think of the main tasks of the Quality Department; such as Quality Control, Quality Management System support, or claim handling. However, there is one more quality aspect that we do not often consider, even though it is not less important for the end customer: the support Astron provides to our customers such as “assistance during erection, monitoring the quality of the erection companies and helping the erectors with specific and critical details”.
Only if the material quality AND the erection quality are good, will the end customer be satisfied and recommend Astron Buildings further. You certainly remember: Quality is when the customer returns and not the product.
In the Project Execution Department, we have the “Technical Service Managers” (TSM). Day-by-day they help or assist our Builders to have Astron buildings erected that match the expectations of the end customer.
In “Erection Seminars” given by the TSMs, the erectors receive basic recommendations for the unloading of the trucks, correct storage on site, reading our erection drawings and, last but not least, recommendations for the main erection steps. After the “Erection Seminars” and when the attendee has passed a final examination, the erector can obtain a personal “Erection License” valid for three years.
As a second option for TSMs to ensure erection quality is the possibility to provide “Erection Assistances”. The full or specific erection assistance means there is real erection support. The TSMs are regularly on the job site, from the unloading to the completion, thus in all erection phases. After each assistance visit, the TSM issues a job site report. These reports are mainly for the erection company, to show them what work was done together during the visit and what our recommendations were.
For experienced Builders or erectors, the TSM can propose an “Erection Audit” after or when the erection is nearly finished. This helps the customer to identify possible deviations and non conformities that need to be corrected.
Of course, in parallel to the above tasks, the TSMs are in contact with job sites every day and provide all types of technical support by phone, emails or even by special job site visits. Their feedback from the sites provides a valuable information from the world outside to all the departments concerned.
As you see from above, the Quality Chain does not stop when the buildings are shipped but it is continued on site. The final quality perceived by the end customer will be defined by the weakest link in this chain and that is why Astron covers the complete chain, from design, manufacturing and delivery up to the job sites and even afterwards in the claim settlement.
Only when everyone’s work is satisfactory will we we will be perceived as “The preferred Partner”.
