General Electric in Nigeria
In Calabar, Nigeria, Astron has been chosen to design, supply and supervise the erection of an 9,000 m² new manufacturing and services facility for General Electric-Emerald Oil & Gas.
We received recently some fresh photos from Stanislav Fedorenko, our project manager supervising erection quality of the Emerald project. He is actually supporting Mirek Witek and Sándor Kiraly who are since several month working on this project.
This 9,000 m² building is part of the General Electric production facility in the territory of the free economic zone in Africa. Structures are delivered to the construction site by sea in containers from Antwerp and then transshipped in Morocco and finally transferred to Calabar.
Still, the distance is not the only challenge of this project. Stanislav told us about the realities the construction team has to face: “We live in a closed camp organized by the General Contractor and we can only “travel” on Sunday to the local market to buy necessary things for daily life”.
Later, when the building is finished, we will give you more details.
