Freight transport is becoming more and more important and many companies choose to move their transports from road to rail. To satisfy this demand, Luxembourg CFL is investing in a new intermodal rail/road terminal in Bettembourg-Dudelange.
On the new 320,000 m² site, several premises are being built such as 2 giant gantry cranes, 4 new tracks for combined transport, 2 rail motorway platforms (each 700 m long) among which 5 Astron buildings, all designed to meet the specific demands of the CFL:
• a 10,600 m² car park for 350 cars
• a 800 m² technical building
• a 460 m² entrance gate
• a 2,500 m² gauge control
• a centralised control post + passerelle all around
The terminal has a maximum capacity of 300,000 containers and 300,000 semi-trailers per year.
