The city of Náchod in the Czech Republic has completed the modernisation of its tennis facility. The centrepiece is a new indoor tennis centre that offers local tennis clubs year-round training and competition facilities. The tennis hall is a steel structure measuring 39 × 56 metres with a ridge height of 10.5 metres. It comprises three courts with an artificial turf surface, which can also be used for badminton or foot tennis. The hall is heated, fully accessible and equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting, which is also suitable for competitions.
The project included a comprehensive renovation of the entire tennis facility. Three of the original clay courts were integrated into the hall. In addition, two new outdoor courts with artificial turf were created. Other measures included the renovation of the changing and sanitary facilities, the improvement of drainage and water connections as well as new fencing and landscaping work. The total investment costs of the project amounted to over CZK 46 million.
Mayor Jan Birke reports: "We have long needed a modern sports facility that can be used all year round. I am therefore very pleased with this successful project. The new tennis hall and the modernised courts offer high-quality conditions - not only for tennis and sports clubs, but also for the general public."
