La Garde car park supporting the city center transformation

13 MAY 2026

In La Garde, near Toulon (France), a new metropolitan car park delivered by Astron Mobility is supporting the ongoing transformation of the city center. The project forms part of the “Cœur de Ville” urban renewal program led by the local territory agency SAGEP to improve mobility, reduce congestion and enhance urban quality of life in collaboration .

Astron Mobility was responsible for the design, production and construction of the steel superstructure in collaboration with SENEC as general contractor, including the adjacent office building, Rougerie Tangram as architect, Arcadis as engineering consultant.

The three-level car park provides 216 free parking spaces, accessible 24/7, offering a convenient solution for residents, visitors and nearby businesses. The infrastructure also integrates services aligned with modern mobility needs:

  • 10 EV charging points
  • 7 accessible spaces for people with reduced mobility
  • 18 spaces for motorized two-wheelers
  • 38 secure bicycle parking spaces

Built with a ventilated steel structure, the car park is lighter and faster to build than a conventional concrete structure, reducing material use and environmental impact. Its façade, made of thermo-lacquered twisted metal blades, reflects the terracotta tones typical of regional rooftops, ensuring smooth integration into the surrounding urban landscape. The architectural concept also received a favorable opinion from the Architecte des Bâtiments de France, ensuring compatibility with local heritage considerations, as it ensures a smooth integration, important given the proximity of a listed historic castle.

A 450 m² photovoltaic installation with 380 solar panels installed on the top level generates renewable electricity for the facility and nearby public infrastructure. The building is also designed to meet the “Bâtiment Durable Méditerranéen” environmental standard.

Located next to a 1.5-hectare urban park currently under development, the project contributes to creating a greener and more accessible city center, with new pedestrian connections and cycling infrastructure along Avenue Jean-Jaurès.
