A practical Astron building

Steel meets wood in industrial construction: simple, efficient, and effective

1 June 2025

Completed in the Greater Vienna area (Austria), this new industrial building is a typical Astron steel structure: simple, efficient, and built to perform. Its wooden façade reflects the customer's activity in the timber industry. The building is an extension of a 20-year-old steel hall.

The building was completed by Astron Builder Baumeister Ing. Franz Pelleritzer. After 25 years working in construction, he started his own business and joined the Astron Builder network.

The customer is Karner Sägewerk, a family-run sawmill based in Furth an der Triesting. The company started as a small carpentry workshop and has evolved into a modern sawmill. They now process  about 15,000 cubic meters of wood each year.

This project underlines Astron’s wide range of construction possibilities. Even a simple and functional industrial building can reflect the customer’s identity. The combination of steel with a natural wood façade shows how easily Astron buildings can be personalized and integrated with traditional materials like timber.
