Multi-storey building - Design Build Multi-Storey Building - Office Building – Belgium

The first 100-per-cent steel multi-storey building for Belgium

Once more a project for the real estate sector has won the contest for the most beautiful ASTRON multi-storey building: The Floralis Building, an office complex of 15.000 m², spread over seven storeys on a 3.500 m² ground surface, is at the town entrance of Gent (B) and can be seen from the freeway. The alliance of glass and steel provides an impression of lightness to this remarkable edifice. The general contractor Ipes, an ASTRON Builder for 22 years, has developed about 30 real estate projects in close collaboration with architect Yvan Van Mossevelde. Two architectural companies contributed to the success of the Floralis building – one for the technical aspect, the other for the esthetic concept. A landscape architect also worked on the site. Several companies have already signed rental contracts for offices in the complex. ESKO Graphics will occupy the 2nd and 3rd floor on 7.500 m² with 230 employees. ‘Floralies of Gent’, the company that runs the flower and plant exposition in Gent every five years, will have its administration offices on the 4th floor, surrounded by terraces and hanging gardens designed by landscape architect Jacques Wirtz. The company Ipes itself will settle in the central tower. The engineering team, architects and the landscape architect are available for a detailed, guided tour of the building.
