Elegant and plain in MSB The owners of Sallwey (Germany) decided to build new premises in order to increase production capacity. ASTRON multi-story Builder Baum & Co. Gewerbebau GmbH, a general contractor offering turnkey buildings for commerce, trade and industry, developed an economical solution for a functional yet attractive building. The well thought-out design of the façade, with vertical pumice elements in combination with horizontal wall panels, gives a clean and elegant aspect to the building. Bright red window and door frames, livening up the relatively straightforward façade, provide a bold splash of colour. Simple, creative ideas are often the best! The use of integrated INODEK beams, combined with pre-stressed concrete elements, for the structure allowed a free span of 11,40 m as well as slightly reducing the overall height, and cost, of the building. A massive pre-fabricated steel and concrete staircase ensures structural integrity. A MULTITEC roof, complete with an all-round parapet, are additional features of this two-level, 1.800 m² building. The interior surfaces of the pumice elements are roughcast, giving a pleasing natural finish to the inside of the building. Builder Baum has used all the benefits of the MSB building system to good effect in creating this efficient, good-value building.
