ASTRON - European news - 18 April 2006
ASTRON in the Winter OlympicsThe Winter Olympic Games are over and each country has counted its medals (or lack of them!). In preparation for the event, the city of Turin made a major and world-class transformation of its sporting facilities, to the extent that at times the city seemed to be just a mass of building sites! One was an ASTRON building which was used as a practice rink for the curling event. To comply with the architectural styling of this Olympic center, the constraints on construction were numerous. The technical requirements, too, were onerous, especially those relating to the hygroscopic conditions within the building and the need to avoid condensation. The ability to meet these requirements while providing a functional building with a good quality-price ratio on a "turnkey" basis were the decisive elements in the choice of ASTRON and Builder Ronco Fratelli spa. This attractive building provided excellent practice facilities for the entrants to the curling event. |
