Space for success Builder Mörk from Leonberg, near Stuttgart (Germany), built this 5.500 m² logistics center for wholesale company Völker GmbH from Holzgerlingen within 6 months! The building, in Stuttgart-Herrenberg, is used for purchasing, storage and distribution activities. It is fully equipped with modern loading and unloading facilities and has high level racking for storage to ensure optimum utilisation of the available floor space. The owner, Mr Waldemar Völker, started importing food from Eastern Europe in 1992. The company grew rapidly and, today, sales of the product range are handled by an affiliated franchise chain « MIX Markt GmbH ». The company soon outgrew its existing centralised facility for logistics, storage and distribution. Proprietor Waldemar Völker decided to create an entirely new combined headquarters and logistics complex and awarded the commission to architect Josef Pencz. The striking building that he has created is clad in PA/ PI Panels, colour grey aluminium, while the PR roof is provided with more than 190 translucent panels. To achieve a restful ambient light level with the building and to avoid any excessive development of heat, the skylights have a dark shading. The building was completed 2 weeks earlier than planned. The customer was so satisfied with the overall performance of the construction team that he gave a pallet of vodka as a gift to Builder Mörk!
