A successful cross-border collaboration ! The Fiat group is active in many fields, including the fabrication of electric generators for offshore platforms. One of the most important French companies in the production of electrical switchboards is located in Normandy (F).So Fiat decided to set up a new factory in Fécamp (F). Fiat Engineering was appointed to act as general contractor and project managers. Italian ASTRON builder Ruggerini was already well known to Fiat Engineering, having worked with them previously on for the production of Ferraris and facilities for Maserati. In co-operation with ASTRON, M. Glauco Sala of Ruggerini proposed to Fiat Engineering to use an ASTRON construction procedure wherein all the technical and construction approvals necessary for the French market were already in place. Additionally, the production site (Luxembourg) was closer to the job site compared to some competitors, which helped with logistics.Fiat Engineering appointed our builder to erect 3 production buildings plus a MSB multi-story building for offices. Total surface area was 16000 m². Mr. Ubaldo Baldini of Ruggerini handled project management, assisted by Mr. Claude Cayuela from French ASTRON builder AS & Co, who was also in charge of all the preliminaries as well as the security co-ordination. Fiat Engineering, very satisfied with the outcome of this "cross-border" co-operation, has already placed an order with Ruggerini for a multi-story building for the headquarters of its Iveco subsidiary, situated near Versailles (F).
