Steel solution for a city-center car park
Sustainable mobility is one of the major challenges for the city of tomorrow. to design cities that are more respectful of the planet and social balances, it is necessary to have efficient, accessible and planet-friendly transport and mobility systems. The French City of Dreux decided to build a car park in the city center connecting the train station and the business district.
The consortium Nancy Construction, Archiclub, Arches Etudes and Astron Buildings were contrated for the design and construction of a multi-storey car park in the city center of Dreux (France). Functional, aesthetic, ergonomic and secure, this three-storey open-air car park, with 310 parking lots, also illustrates the development of the new business district."We have chosen to create a building that connects the railway station to the business district," said Gérard Hamel, President of “Agglo du Pays de Dreux”.
An architectural and urban challenge.
This parking is a key component to the new development project’s attractivity for the city center of Dreux. The architect, Archiclub, has designed a semi-glazed facade that functions as a filter for sound and sunlight, helping to create a comfortable environment. The choice of a steel structure is a real advantage in terms of speed of construction. The three-storey car park is predestined to become the highlight of the new district!
